David Levy, with over 30 years of experience, works with organizations to identify opportunities, harness resources and implement strategies that lead to sustainable growth.
David Levy is a strong professional leader with extensive experience in a diverse range of social service and community agencies. As an effective and strategic manager, David has a track record of success working with organizations to develop leadership, financial resources, programs and management systems that enable the agencies to realize their mission.
· Non-profit professional leadership including fundraising, project management, governance, staff recruitment, coaching and supervision, financial oversight, community outreach and policy development.
· Financial Resource Development planning and execution with a specialty in major donor strategies.
· Teaching classes and leading workshops on the topics of fundraising, management, governance and leadership for graduate students, professionals and volunteers.
· Leading organizations through change and growth including crisis management.
· Coaching and consulting with non-profits to empower boards and staff to contribute their unique talents to advance the mission of the agency and create strategic solutions to organizational issues.
· Establishing a governing structure for a growing organization.
· Developing a strategic plan to help a start-up nonprofit focus on its core competencies and more effectively engage stakeholders and donors.
· Consulting with an organization to identify areas of fundraising growth.
· Creating and implementing strategic financial resource development plan.

· Training and Motivating Board of Directors on fundraising.
· Facilitating Board of Directors Retreats and Professional Development Trainings.
David Levy has extensive experience in the nonprofit sector, working with a diverse range of large and grassroots social service, arts, health and community development agencies. His areas of expertise include professional/volunteer relations, financial resource development and leadership.
A passionate teacher and engaging trainer, David has worked with organizations throughout the country on fundraising, governance, organizational problem solving, capacity building and strategic planning. David is skilled at helping individuals and organizations harnessing their unique skills and talents for success.
Serving on the faculty of the Zelikow School of Jewish Nonprofit Management, David enjoys working with a diverse group of graduate students who are truly committed to making a positive difference in their community and in the world.
David’s professional experience includes work at Jewish Federations, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Jewish Family Service, Jewish Free Loan and Hillel in the areas of management, leadership development and fundraising. As a volunteer, David has served on the Board of Directors for various arts and social service nonprofits and is a past President of Congregation Kol Ami.
David earned his Masters’ Degrees in Social Work and Nonprofit Management from the University of Southern California and Hebrew Union College. In recognition of his career achievements and service to the community, Hebrew Union College awarded David an honorary doctorate in Jewish Nonprofit Management. He also has been recognized by his peers with the Jewish Community Professionals of Southern California inaugural Award for Excellence in Fundraising.
